The Granary is a cosy, characterful and comfortable barn conversion offering visitors the opportunity to 'switch off' in the tranquil, peaceful setting of Ruthwaite, a small hamlet 'away from it all' but only 3 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake and only 15-20 minutes drive to Keswick.
The cottage is situated at the end of a quiet 'green' lane and enjoys uninterrupted views from the lounge and patio to Skiddaw, one of England's highest mountains, the Uldale and Caldbeck fells and close by Binsey fell which offers stunning views which must be difficult to beat, taking in not only the Lake District panorama, looking down on Bassenthwaite Lake and Overwater but the Solway Firth and the Galloway hills in Scotland. Listen to the silence!
Ground floor
Stable-door entrance to kitchen/diner, fully equipped with an excellent range of units, together with electric cooker, fridge-freezer, washing-machine, microwave oven, electric kettle and toaster. A door leads from the kitchen into a short passage off which, to the right, is a ground-floor single bedroom with an adjacent shower-room which includes W.C. and handbasin. To the left are 4 steps which lead into the lounge. The lounge has 2 sets of French doors, one facing south to Skiddaw and the other facing east to the Uldale and Caldbeck fells. Both open onto the private, secluded patio with garden furniture, raised rockery and open grassed area offering a safe recreational area for children and pets. An information pack is provided detailing the abundance of activities and places of interest, plus a supply of books, videos, DVDs together with T.V. and C.D.player.
An open-plan staircase of 10 treads leads to the 1st floor.
First floor
The small landing at the top of the stairs has three doors. The door to the right leads into a twin bedroom with extra seating. There is an external stable-door, through which are stunning views to Skiddaw. The door opens to an outside set of stone steps leading down to the patio. The door to the left leads into the bathroom with bath, basin with vanity unit and W.C. The third door leads into a double bedroom.
There is gas central heating throughout and double-glazing. Beds are made up. Gas, electricity and bedlinen are provided at no extra charge. Towels are not provided.
Local Amenities
There is no public transport so a car is essential.
The nearest supermarkets are in Keswick. It is necessary to bring provisions with you as there is no store in the hamlet.
It is possible to arrange a delivery from Tesco by ordering on-line and they will deliver at a pre-arranged time. The owner will be pleased to take in your delivery prior to your arrival if so wished.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, at an extra charge of £15.00 per pet per week. Maximum 2 dogs.
Children are welcome but because of steps, the property is not suitable for toddlers.
Unfortunately, because of stone steps, the property is not considered convenient for wheelchair users unless they are partially mobile.
